Update from the Coastside Dayenu Circle (CJC’s Climate Action Group)
We now have a Coastside chapter of the Jewish climate action group, Dayenu. Why not join us? If interested, email Linda Goldstein.
Last Sunday, nine of us attended a workshop at Urban Adamah in Berkeley: “Confronting the Climate Crisis and Cultivating Spiritual Courage.” Based on The Work That Reconnects by Joanna Macy, it inspired us to pursue more opportunities to learn and to take action. Our next event will take place this Sunday evening.
Sunday February 5 at 7pm (on Zoom) – Leading the Way to a Clean Energy Future
Special guest David Arfin, a renewable energy pioneer and policy thought leader, will lead a discussion on how to build a sustainable community from the ground up. He has served as an entrepreneur and advisor for solar and sustainable energy projects around the world, and has advised the US Department of Energy. This program is being hosted by our sister Dayenu Circle at Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos. Click here for the Zoom link.
“I used to think the top environmental problems were biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and climate change. I thought that with 30 years of good science we could address those problems. But I was wrong. The top environmental problems are selfishness, greed and apathy and to deal with those we need a spiritual and cultural transformation – and we scientists don’t know how to do that.” – Gus Speth, Environmental Lawyer and co-founder of the Natural Resources Defense Council
